What is GeriMedRisk?

Do I need to go see someone at GeriMedRisk?

No, you do not need to travel or go in person to access GeriMedRisk. GeriMedRisk uses telephone and computer to support your current team of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, or other health care professionals within their normal workspace, saving you travel and time.  

 

Is there a long waitlist?

No. After GeriMedRisk receives a request, they will respond within days.

 

Does GeriMedRisk prescribe more medication to me?

One of GeriMedRisk’s goals is to have you on the minimum number of medications needed to manage your condition. In most cases, our recommendations minimize unnecessary medications and related side effects. 

 

Does GeriMedRisk stop my medications? 

No, GeriMedRisk will work with your regular doctor, pharmacist, or nurse to improve your medications. GeriMedRisk may also contact you or your caregiver to get a better understanding of your current medication list.

 

Do I stop seeing my doctor or pharmacist because of GeriMedRisk?

No, it is important for you to continue seeing the people who care for you. You can think of GeriMedRisk as a supporting team for your care provider. They can ask us questions when they are not sure about a medication or a condition.
